Education Psychology - The Educational Psychology Program's mission is to advance understanding and generate knowledge of human learning, development, and motivation; and to develop a solid foundation of research, measurement, assessment, program evaluation, and applied statistics in educational setting and related fields.
Counseling - The Counselor Education Program’s mission is to prepare carefully selected and qualified students for the profession of counseling. At Hunter, the professional preparation of counselors emphasizes the nurturance of people within an urban context. Counselors in training at Hunter College are encouraged to join in a partnership with community organizations to provide quality personal and career counseling to individuals, particularly under-served populations.
Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (T.E.S.O.L.) - The M.A. in TESOL Program is designed to prepare teachers who want to teach students for whom English is a second or foreign language. It is interdisciplinary, including courses on a wide range of topics in language and teaching that provide students with a theoretical and practical background in linguistics, pedagogical grammar, literacy, and second language acquisition, as well as psychological, sociological and cultural aspects of learning. These courses adopt an approach that infuses theory into classroom teaching.
Administration & Supervision - The goal of the Hunter College advanced certificate in administration and supervision is to provide prospective educational leaders with a strong conceptual foundation, and practical, real-life experiences that will assist them in taking on a leadership role. The program leads to certification as a school building leader and a school district leader.
