Objective
To develop knowledge of the resources available, the relevant policies and processes, and the advising and registration cycle at Hunter College, with the intent that this knowledge will improve students’ sense of autonomy and control over their academic choices and progress. The advising schedule aims to compliment Freshman advising services in providing information to assist students with decisions, resources to assist students with the pursuit of goals, and understanding of policies and processes to allow efficient and effective academic participation and progress.
Freshman Advisors
Throughout the first year, freshmen are assigned to a freshman advisor by the first letter of their last names. Freshman advisors will contact students periodically to provide information, inquire as to progress and invite students for advising and programs. Freshmen should contact their advisors with any questions or concerns.

Additional Advising
After freshman year, students are no longer assigned to a specific advisor, and may see any advisor in the Office of Advising Services 1119E, or any peer advisor in the Sylvia E. Fishman Student Center 417W. Once students have declared a major, they should meet with advisors in their major department for advising on their major and minor.
